The Dougherty/Mike Fund

The Dougherty/Mike Medical Research Endowment in the College of Science was established by Lucille Dougherty in honor of D. Mike, J. B. “Don” Dougherty, and Lucille Dougherty.

Dougherty/Mike endowment funds are given to particularly successful and outstanding full-time faculty members in the College of Science who are doing research in basic or applied sciences with contributions to human medicine. Preference is given to laboratories in the Department of Biology that are studying what the biological clock consists of and how it functions in regard to medical significance, and also to research findings that contribute to enriching the learning experiences of students enrolled in College of Science courses.

Dougherty/Mike funds may be used in wide-ranging ways, from purchasing equipment and supplies needed for experiments and hiring students to assist with experiments, to hosting scientists to consult with the researchers, supporting presentation of findings at international meetings, and publishing research papers.
